Yog Sothoth Rules

I was inspired to sketch this one day while reading Stephen King’s Needful Things.

India

I scanned this beautiful photo from a book on India. I wanted it for its color palette for a sleep store project. I named the store Shanti and ended up not using too many of these bold colors, opting for a more subdued look to fit the sleep store feel. This scan is too gorgeous to pass up tho, so I plan on using the colors for a future project at some point.

Paper

This is a black & white scan of a piece of yellow card stock paper. I love how it looks like finger prints.

Ingredients

These are original sketches that ultimately became the logos for my Pet Beer bottles. I enjoy creating my own type, and all of these are the first and only sketches I made of the names. I was pleasantly surprised at the results. I’ll post the final colorized/vectorized designs tomorrow.

We would have to do four of these every week, to prepare us for the epic final. After choosing our best “evolutions” of type, we had to narrow it down to one and use it to sell an appropriately related product. The type I ended up choosing was very square and boxy, and so I named the font “proxy” and packaged home decorating things, like paint swatches, pillows, etc. I named the product line “Pixel Paints.” It’s not one of my portfolio pieces, but I had fun making the different letters and packaging something different.

Bears of the Ice

Armoured polar bears, known as panserbjørn, in the novel series His Dark Materials inhabited my thoughts one day at work. I sketched what their helmets/armour would look like.
